Au Revoir to Santa Rosa
Since we left Edinburgh at the beginning of May, his Lordship and I have travelled over 7,000 miles, but not quite as a crow would fly
We left Scotland in a non existent spring and dismal weather, travelled through a landscape of ice covered lakes and stands of bare silver birches through most of Canada before arriving in Vancouver to a leafy greenness and a temperature which allowed us to discard our heavy winter anoraks.
We motored down through Washington and Oregon with spring weather, being royally entertained by our blip buddies Cynthia and Phil in Bellingham and having lunch in Tacoma with other friends Mel and Jim.
We looked at volcanoes, we looked at snowy mountains, we looked at more volcanoes, we looked at more snowy mountains until there were none left and then we arrived in Santa Rosa where the sun shone, the temperature rose and we felt as though we had at last arrived to summer.
Our holiday has been brilliant thanks in most part to the hospitality of Berkeleyblipper and Oilman who have ferried us about and shown us wonderful scenery and places around their home.
They have made us feel welcome and given up so much of their time to allow us another holiday of a lifetime with them.
Thank you Jennie and John, we will remember this time with huge nostalgia when we sit at home in the gloom of a Scottish winter.
