VI - Automation // See you on the other side
Automation & Robotics.
Lack of sleep. 3 hours on a couch, brutally awaken at 5am. Shane, Ali and me begrudgingly made our way back to the learning grid through the cold (3 degrees in May?!?!?!). Revision was so damn unmotivated and our hopes for the exam were not high, despite some very strategic revision on our part. Finally, we said goodbye to the Fort, which has been our home for the last three weeks. May other students use it as well as we did.
We joined the group of tired mechanical engineering students with bags under their eyes at Desso Hall at 9am, to sit our last exam. Headache and hunger set in, damn. But then I read the exam paper and you won't believe how much lighter and clearer everything got. It was like suddenly I could taste freedom on the other side.
Needless to say I beasted most of the paper. After fluids yesterday, this was an absolute gift, lets hope it was get moderated too much. Turns out I didn't make a mistake picking the "easy" optional module last year. It was even quite interesting, I realized during our junk-food fueled 20 hour haze of studying.
Actually, its funny how much more interested I became with my modules during exam period. #engineeringisfun. Also, I wonder when hashtags will die?
Anyways, about 20 of us (#engineeringsausagefest) headed over to costcutter to buy some crates of corona, and finally relax on the piazza in the sun. Its like being in another world now, so detached from the 95% of students who are still studying locked in their rooms, the library and the grids. I'm seeing the bright side of having all my exams packed into Hell Week now. No more looking back.
Anyways, we all headed different ways and I got a ride with Rowan and Harriet back to leam. A couple hours later, the three of us met at Duke's to watch the Bayern-Dortmund champions final. Boycey and the whole gang from Acorn House came down as well, along with some his friends from back home who came for his birthday, and Ines and Jack who were over from Bath again! Nothing better than hanging out with a bunch of people who haven't had to worry about exams. Thom, Lia and Luisa also joined up! Really good game and awesome atmosphere at Duke's.
Here's half of the group in my room, left to right: Jack, Riz, Ines, Tom, Bhav and Matt. Over to Acorn House for Tom's house party, after buying some crates from Tesco's and picking up Stana on the way! Too many antics to recall but a few highlights: -the French kicking some serious British ass at beer pong! -Tom's inability to finish the beer bong. -birthday champagne showers. -stories about getting into a fight with the guys from Sicilian and spending the night in jail.
Another awesome party to add to the books. I realize as the day progressed though, I downgraded from Corona to Carlsberg, to Foster's, and finishing with everyday value cider. Bad times.
But such a good day, and what a turnaround, from waking up in painful state to falling asleep in a peaceful state.
_________
So much TL;DR but I don't really care, its good to have proper stuff to write about again.
Good luck to everybody who still has exams!
peace
