May Day
We had traditional May Day festivities! Hubby woke up early and I a bit later to prepare picnic food. At 10:00 the Mieskuoro Laulajat choir started their performance at the Näsinkallio park, and we met our friends Elina, Janne and Heli there. E & J had baked May Day doughnuts in the morning. Our picnic started with doughnuts and sparkling wine toasts, as usual. After the choir finished, we moved to our traditional picnic spot, set up our picnic table and chairs, and also Emil and Karoliina joined our group. The sun shined warmly and it was lovely to sit, chat and enjoy picnic foods.
Because Emma has been a freshman in her architecture studies this year, she got the dipping to the Tammerkoski rapids again! Also our goddaughter Minttu was dipped today. She studies Biomedical Technology.
This year it was 58th time than the dipping was arranged, and 1100 freshmen was dipped today. The dipping cages are new, they are a bit larger than old ones.
Ranking in the freshmen's prank competition defined the order of guilds in teekkari dipping. This year Emma's guild Tamark was the third and Minttu's guild Bioner was the fifth group in dipping (out of 15).
Girls were dipped several times and it looked like water was really cold. After seeing Emma's and Minttu's dipping, we visited Elina's and Janne's new gorgeous penthouse city flat.
+9,7 ºC, sunny day, cloudy evening
