Back on track…train track, that is

We returned to Narni to pick up the bikes we had stored in a Funeral Director’s garage and then hopped on the train (three, actually) to Lucca. One has to be patient, slow and careful when lugging the load of luggage we were carrying. A travel backpack on my back, a very full daypack on my front, a ‘wallet-purse’ across my shoulder (and tucked under many straps), a handlebar bag (with helmet inside) slung over a shoulder while wheeling a very large, nearly 50 lb. suitcase containing a folded bike. This is weight bearing exercise! I’m telling my bones to hang in there, we can do this…which reminds me…it’s time for my Calcium supplement. Oh, BTW…two out of the three train stations did not have an acensore (elevator), which meant negotiating stairs down and then up again to change ‘binario’ (track). Fortunately, at least one person (stronger than I) offered assistance and carried my bike case down/up the stairs! Grazie mille!!!
