After the Celebration

A May Day.
A bit warmer than yesterday, but still very cold. Sunny and cloudy, about +8, chilling west wind. Early morning near zero.

We popped in the garden and first met again the friends to chat with.
It was now possible to connect the water tube back to the tap after real freezy nights most probably are over. We checked things, not much more. Rain seemed to be getting, at least if you looked at the sky's colour, so we quickly left home. The rain came much later, in the evening, and only some for now. So, peaceful celebration in here also today.

I was astonished to hear yesterday evening in news that from 60 000 to 70 000 people gathered around Havis Amanda, a fountain and a statue in center of Helsinki. Every year on May Day Eve, the statue serves as a centrepiece for the celebrations. I have never wanted to be in that crowd.  But this amount af people is much bigger than usual. Maybe one reason is the years of corona, which were followed by one crisis after another, but surely because the statue will be moved to the restoration after a May day.

A feeling of many of yesterday's, May Days Eve's, revelers today may be something as in my picture...

I blipped about a May Day in Finland last year too, see Apr 30th, 22.
