I spotted these place mats. I recall a friend having a set many years ago. 

Mum update.  I took her to get the dressing changed on her would. The huge cut is healing very well. I have arranged some extra help for her. There will now be someone to get her up and dressed each morning. So only two showers per week but they will help her to wash on the other days. It is not possible to get any help with cleaning so the family will have to chip in for that.
