Day two of Lowland Leader Assessment, 11/11 passes. I'm super happy to be able to sign these candidates pass papers, they'll all go on to introduce people to the outdoors, just like someone did for me many a moon ago. Sure there were nerves, a couple of mistakes and a bottom lip moment or two, but there were also moments of realisation. smiles, laughter and a genuine enthusiasm. That's good enough for me.

If you want to get someone's interested in nature real quick you can do a lot worse than a slime mold. Not a plant, no longer a fungi but also not an animal (despite the fact it mates and can move). A collection of almost single cell amoeba like organisms that can come together in tough times, that can move together to find food and who'll make spores to procreate in a new area if they decide they can't survive where they are.

And us foolish humans think we have things all figured out....
