Developments
My Dear Princess and Dear Fellow,
I've been keeping things from you.
Not on purpose you understand. It's just that my narrative flow for Friday was Supper Club and Saturday was all about car shopping.
Introducing other elements would have thrown my flow off. And no-one likes a wonky flow.
So. Things.
On Friday I received a call from OtherSimon, a very nice man who managed me* as part of the BA team at Kainga Ora.
Oh wait. I should perhaps also add at this point in my flow that Briar has been undertaking a CAMPAIGN OF TERROR to get me back ever since I left in December. The way she tells it, she has been attached to OtherSimon's LEG for the past 5 months screaming "PLEEEEASE!!!" the whole time.
Anyway. OtherSimon cracked. He threw in the towel. "We want you back," he said.
I'm pretty sure I could hear Briar un-cocking her rifle in the background.
It turns out that Kainga Ora are about to introduce Salesforce. I knew about this back in December, but they were too slow to bring it online before I left. However, I DID mention it to OtherSimon who mentioned it to someone who mentioned it to someone.
And now they need meeeeeee.
Caro made a face. "Do you REALLY want to deal with that sh*t again??" she asked. She remembers all the times I came home from SLAC and MPI swearing and stressed about Salesforce.
But this time it will be different I told her. Because:
- Kainga Ora don't YET have Salesforce. Both SLAC and MPI did. And by the time I got there, they had already F*CKED IT UP ROYALLY. I actually spent most of my time at both those places un-picking what they had done.
- No Smock. To recap, Smock hired me for my expertise of Salesforce. And then spent the next two years ignoring all my advice. She often said (in meetings, to other people) "I know 'e disagrees with me, but I'm not listening to 'IM"). She really said that. Out loud. Often. Was wrong every time.
- Seriously. No Smock. That's huge.
Anyway, so I spent today re-writing my CV to be more Salesforcey. OtherSimon tells me that I probably WON'T be hired as a BA though. It sounds like I'll be a data person. A Data Supremo. Or something. But it's the same money and I don't care.
In other news, the guy who wants to build around the back of our house stopped by too. He actually seemed pretty reasonable - as compared to our neighbours who are up in arms.
I let Caro do most of the talking but then put my business analyst hat on and assigned him actions. It was - I told him - UNACCEPTABLE that Caro had been placed in the middle of him and the neighbours and I would REALLY APPRECIATE IT if he would f*cking well explain what he was doing to them, instead of leaving it to us.
They still won't like it. I mean WE don't like it. But what I hate is Caro being the one ferrying messages back and forth. So he promised he will do that, and I'll be at the meeting of him and the other neighbours with my popcorn.
FINALLY, back to the subject of work, Manda revealed on Friday that her talents have already been noted (after just two weeks!) She is now being groomed for a more senior position at Cordon Bluh and will be making an extra $40k a year, once it comes through (probably next year).
I do not know if she will be a Data Supremo. But more importantly we will both be happy. And that's all that matters. And bugger the neighbours.
S.
