A visit at Miners Marsh today. I could hear more birds than I could see. I could hear the cardinal but didn't see any until just as I was leaving, he was sitting in a tree by the parking lot. Lots of red winged blackbirds and common grackles, but most of them did not want to sit still long enough for a photo. I could hear a pheasant, but only caught a glimpse of him in the woods. A few pairs of Canada geese were in the far pond and one pair in the larger pond. I also saw a wood duck pair, so there may be babies again this year. The tree swallows were busy flitting around. I finally caught this pair sitting at one of the nesting boxes.
Then went to my usual stops, a bakery and a couple of garden centers and a couple of farm markets.
Three more weeks and I will be off on my first major plant buying trip of the year, and it will be an overnight trip too.
