Tarasca
Our last day in Spain involved a trip to Antequera. It was such an old site that even the Romans named it "old". As with so many sites in Andalucia there is a mix of roman, Visigoth, moor and Christian influence as each dominating culture imposes its structures on the previous ones.
So much to see coupled with the lock fiesta day. At each hour firecrackers wee shot into the air for 5 minutes to set the dogs barking and create cardiac arrests. Sadly we had to leave before the parade to catch our flight home.
Visiting the 16th century church we saw an example of the type of scene used in processions. This one - the Tarasca - depicts the triumph of Christ over the 7 deadly sins. Whether you believe in that or not it is nevertheless a dramatic sight, especially if leading the parade through the streets.
Now back home so the blips in the next few weeks are likely to be a bit less exotic!
