B.A.C.K. to Basics

ENT… UVWXYZ

Bj has been patiently waiting for todays ENT specialist appointment. Diagnostic testing revealed both a deviated septum and nasal polyps. With limited specialists in our area, the appointment was scheduled months after his PCP appointment.

Imagine our disappointment when we arrive and we’re offered a slew of reasons why he can’t breathe out his right nostril, including that grinding his teeth at night may be a contributing factor. You should run out and buy this…. And while we’re at it, do you have Pets? Yes… oh well, you most likely have an allergy to pet dander. We need to do an allergy test to rule that out. Also, you may be allergic to your dog. Do you have ear/hearing problems? Hmm, well that may contribute to your stuffiness.

What?!?!? Dude- we have clinical evidence of a deviated septum and nasal polyps. We were sent to you as my PCP believes surgery is the next step. We’ve done allergy testing, steroid nasal sprays, chiropractic, we have air purifiers in the house, he had the issue before we got the dog…. Stop this insanity.

Long story short, we believe this guy is delaying the inevitable. But, he knows it all and willingly tells you so!

Sad for my husband. He had been looking forward to this appointment. Looking forward to breathing freely, especially at night. Now we have to jump through this guys hoops and do a song & dance before surgery is an option.
