Lettuces

I bought the lettuce plants at the market and have now planted them out. The only problem is that the feral cats quite like to lie in the beds or scratch around in the soil. The solution that seems to work is scattering sharp stones around to discourage them. The last couple of nights we have had showers so I have not had to water. I made bread in the morning and then got stuck into the issue with the veranda. Some of the materials that I paid for are stuck with the supplier in Spain. It seems that the supplier was never paid in full by the company that went into liquidation. They will not release the items without me paying several thousand pounds more for them which obviously I am reluctant to do. I hope to be able to recover the new veranda roof, which has been manufactured and delivered, from the court so I am now exploring whether the roof could be fitted to the existing structure which is still sound. It is all rather a pain!
