I’ve been listening to a few historical audio books lately. Middle Ages and Reformation stuff. It wasn’t like it is in that chocolate box picture. Even the wealthy had to put up with lots of health misery and state violence and ridiculous beliefs.
Ok, the ridiculous beliefs bit still exists - but that’s because the human brain is easily prone to malfunctioning.
