Close encounters

Had to go to town to the post office today (a 20 mile round trip) and we decided to have fish and chips by the harbour.

Having guzzled that down it felt like a good thing to go up the road about a mile and see what was going on wildlife-wise. That's when this beauty decided to fly overhead - sometimes it seems like life conspires to give you these little gifts.
If we hadn't stopped for lunch, or hadn't decided to go up the road a little way, I would never have seen the gannet!
