Wound up in Wexford

That's better

We've been living with a lot of paper and cardboard cluttering up our front hall, awaiting a round toit of opportunityto go to the tip.  A couple of days ago we heard scrabbling noises, suggesting that the mouse mice were perhaps nesting, which applied some pressure.  This morning, we loaded the car to capacity (no mice jumped out as we loaded the car), and took a trip to the recycling centre.

The result was a clear front hall, until we decided to move the bureau out of the lounge.  Mind you, it turned out that the centre in New Ross didn't have facilities for taking landfill, so we had to bring the box of polystyrene away.  But it's now stored in the garage until we either take it in to Wexford, or more likely gradually add it to our black bin for our refuse collectors to dispose of it.

We ran Rocky round the hall, and I cleaned a couple of muddy footprints with a damp cloth, before deciding to move the bureau.  One of the slight annoyances of this house is that it seems to set ostentation above function.  It has this very impressive hall, with a central staircase, but there's a lot of wasted space both here, and upstairs, where the landing is excessively large.  We'd rather have had a bit more of this space incorporated into the rooms.  But it is what it is - we just need to learn the best way to use the space.

Later, W cut out the edge of a proposed flower/shrub bed, and I made a start on altering some curtains to hang in our bedroom so that the ones left behind there by our vendor can be moved to the downstairs bedroom.
