Dead Madrona Tree

Also known as Pacific madrone in Oregon and California. Botanical name Arbutus menziesii.

I found this while walking Hamish high up on the ridge north of us. It's the first time I've seen one that wasn't close to a lake or saltwater.

I was dazzled by the colors, and didn't notice the fish head likeness until I edited my photos.
