Syros, Greece

After an easy 3.5 hour ferry ride I arrived in Syros. Perfect weather for being on a ferry and warm and sunny in Syros, warmer than expected. A short walk to the lovely villa where I was staying and checked in. I was offered a vegetarian lunch which was absolutely delicious. Mezze style with the best flavours - Greek food, traditionally, is mainly vegetarian after all. Black eyed peas with fresh dill and fennel, fava bean dip with a hint of citrus, potato salad with olives, capers and caper leaves and vegan bread topped with tomato and onion. The wine was local and a lovely white. I needed a walk after that and headed off around the town, stopping for an ice cream along the way. It was a nice afternoon and included a stop for a glass of wine overlooking the port. About 7 I headed back to my accommodation and enjoyed the view from my balcony across the town and beyond to the sea. I slept early! I’d walked many, many steps! And the bed was so comfortable! I think I’ll enjoy my long weekend here.
