Calm after the Storms

See yesterday's blip for the start of this story! Having seen the entrants and their cars away from the start of the Club Triumph Historic Run (from the Great British Car Journey, near Matlock), our next move was on to the mid-way checkpoint. Whilst the entrants were visiting a multitude of different counties and points of interest (in the inclement weather), we had a simpler drive over to Strensham Services on the M5. Entrants and cars had to check in with us their and show evidence of where they had been between in the first half of event, they arrived between 12.45 and 2am and stopped for an hour. 30 minutes after each car arrived, they received instructions for the second half of the event and could start planning their routes, departing a minimum of 30 minutes later.

Once all were away we could then set off again for the end location in Milton Keynes. A couple of hours later we arrived and grabbed an hour or so sleep in our car before setting up to receive the finishing drivers and starting to put the final results together. We'd arranged a good cooked breakfast for all and soon we had the results calculated and we were able to give out the trophies before everyone departed from home.

All the cars had covered 350-500 miles on the event and we only had one with any problems (self induced really as they clipped a kerb and damaged a wheel), not bad for 45+year old cars. Before leaving MK we had a quick walk around Caldecotte lake for a few photos.

Back home, we were exhausted but very satisfied that all the work had delivered an event that was enjoyed by all the entrants.
