These poppies are always a little awkward to photograph as they hang their heads shyly. The morning sun was shining through after last night's rain and I was able to get some gardening done first thing, digging out a large patch of ground elder from the border.

Just before lunchtime, I took Joe into town and went for a stroll through Dock Park, where the blossoms are looking beautiful (see extra). I met a couple of friends who were on their way to the cinema and stopped for a chat before doing the weekly supermarket shop (not ideal on a Sunday but since I was here it saves me using the car another day)

I came home hoping for more dry weather but just as I was about to get the lawnmower out, the rain started.
