Paul and me are enjoying a peaceful holiday in the heart of picturesque Cumbrian sheep country.
The holiday cottage is on a sheep farm and we had to open and close five big wooden farm gates to get here. We shopped at Booths in Windermere. It is a fantastic supermarket. Then a Vegan lunch at The Garden cafe in Kendal. We have good sunshine now but expect mixed weather. We drove to see St Mary's Church up the very long narrow lane. It dates to 1863 and has a well tended graveyard.
The bird song is wonderful and the frolicking, playful lambs. We enjoy reading, board games and walking. There is the hope of seeing otters, roe deer and a kingfisher on the River Sprint. The friendly farmer said the cuckoo heralds Spring on 24 th April and if we are quiet we may hear it's song.
