Under A Week

Under a week to reach a ‘milestone’ birthday!

I ‘Blip’ quite often about Paddy, our Staffie X, he is my companion during these retirement days, friendly to strangers, loving to family, inquisitive, playful and full of fun. Once a week or so we have a long walk and so it was today. Our coffee stop at Princess Pavilion gave the staff an opportunity to feed him treats, I don’t believe he knows or cares that he’s supposed to have a grain allergy! Water and too many biscuits for Paddy, coffee and cake for me and we were on our way.
Gyllyngvase Beach where holidaymakers are surprised that dogs are still allowed on the beach, we don’t make the rules, just take advantage of them. Onto to Boscawen Fields, an area specifically set aside for dogs to run free. As a rule Paddy stays on his lead, there’s far to many people walking Guinea Pig sized dogs ready to moan about the ferocious ‘bull breed’, I’d always assumed that it would be more trouble than it was worth to let him loose.
To my surprise we had the field to ourselves, off the lead Paddy hurtled round the field at full speed.
Gradually more dogs with their owners arrived in the field, all sizes and shapes but I decided not to call him and put him on the lead. For thirty minutes he ran and played and had the time of his life, so much so he had to lie down for a rest before heading for home.

Very quiet evening as Paddy gently snored on the settee beside me.
