Watching the Band
A dozen Marlborough Camera Club members travelled to Nelson this morning to participate in the Nelson Marlborough Inter-club Challenge. This is a friendly annual competition between our club and the Nelson Camera Club.
The Nelson Camera Club has won the special trophy every single year since the Challenge started in 2003.
This year each club entered 10 prints and 15 digital images, each one being the work of an individual photographer.
These images, 30 in all, were judged by an independent judge who arrived this afternoon to give his assessment of every print/image. Each entry attracted points from 1 to 15. The points were totalled and the club which had earned the highest number of points won the trophy.
I am sorry to remind you that for the last nine years, since the competition started, Nelson has won the trophy. Yes... :-( ... every year for the last nine years....
But, this year, 2013, was our year. Yeehah!!!! We won the trophy for the first time ever. There was much celebration in our ranks. What a great day for our Camera Club!
When the celebrations were over and it was time to start for home it was also time to find a blip. We had spent our day at Founders Park in Nelson...loads of blips to be found there.
However I heard this extremely loud and joyful sounding noise behind one of the buildings and went to investigate. There was this lovely loud band really thumping out some jolly good tunes.
Standing right in front of the band was a small girl wearing a purple cape. She was fascinated by the band and was watching every movement very closely.
I was fascinated to see that it was unlikely that she was appreciating the music as she was wearing a pair of big bright orange of ear muffs....
