Well thumbed

I came across this today, in a box of old crap treasured possessions.

I spent countless hours poring over this book - its amusing to see what I'd taken the time to underline or draw hearts next to - apparently I was a big Genesis fan (I'd erased that from my memory). I sent a photo of it to my mum and she said at work they used to listen to the radio, and there was a "guess the year' quiz every morning. She and her friend used to cheat using this book; their colleagues thought they had encyclopaedic music knowledge.

It ends in the summer of 1978, which, if you're old enough to remember, you may recall was the summer of Grease. I've tried to explain to my daughter how hard it was to find information pre-internet; you had to work for it - books were so much more precious.
