Im and I met up with her friends to see DakhaBrakha at the Royal Festival Hall.
DakhaBrakha are a Ukrainian avante-garde folk quartet, with heavy drums accompanying more folk/traditional instrumentation and singing. The music was eclectic, the atmosphere was lively, and the projected visuals were striking (sometimes whimsical, sometimes abstract, and at times v. poignant). "Ukraine Will Win" images were displayed throughout, and all "merch." proceeds go to Ukrainian humanitarian aid efforts; I'd not heard of DakhaBrakha before, but much of the crowd responded to the lyrics and (Ukrainian) greetings so it seems as though a large number of Ukrainians (UKrainians?) were in attendance, and the overall tone was v. supportive, defiant, and optimistic.
