The wind was cold but the sky was blue so it was still very pleasant looking out from the picnic spot over the tumbling waters of the Tweed at Melrose.  Just downstream the river was calmer at the Chain Bridge with its view beyond Melrose towards the Eildon hills. In the Priorwood Garden apple blossom buds were starting to open and the tulips were looking colourful beneath the fruit trees growing on the wall.
