The King's Arms and Sakura

After work, Dom and I strolled down to the King's Arms on Bloom Street, which is, I think, currently my favourite Salford pub. We were joined by the Minx and the three of us enjoyed a couple of drinks before Dom left to catch his train, and we were left to mull over our dinner options.

Last Sunday, we'd seen Jay Rayner's review of Sakura, a Chinese restaurant in Salford, and resolved to go, but we thought we'd leave it a few weeks for the attention following the newspaper article to die down.

However, as it's only a stone's throw from The King's Arms and we were getting peckish, we figured we'd take a chance, and lo! A table was free.

Well, it is an odd place, located in a small parade of shops below a block of flats, just as Rayner described it. He also says this was once a fish and chip shop, and I can well believe that. But the food was excellent, and, indeed, as we sat eating, a queue formed outside. Would recommend.
