Spotted between Langho and York

I left the house at 10.15 to drive to Whalley to arrange with Angela what we need for our holiday. As I was going to get on the motorway I saw it was at a standstill so I drove on and towards Chorley. At Chorley I chose to go up the M61 rather than across country to the M65. I hadn't gone far and again there was a holdup. I wished I'd gone the other way. The motorway was shut before it joined the M6. I think there were 2 bad accidents. I got off the M65 at Blackburn and went over the tops to Whalley a route I used to get to work in the 90s. I pulled over as soon as I saw this in a field. I managed to ring Angela and say I was on my way. I arrived at her house 11.30. We had a lovely catchup and chat about our holiday She made her fabulous fish pie for lunch. I left her to go to the hairdressers in Clitheroe. On my way home at 4pm I heard on the radio that the motorway was still shut. I started home a different way but did end up at the M6 which thankfully had opened.
