The Sunset that Never Appeared
Hawaii is known for its beautiful sunsets, tonight the clouds would have made an interesting sunset but the color never arrived. This shot is of the entry into the area where we plan to snorkel tomorrow if the weather cooperates. Right now the forecast is for high winds and rough seas; perhaps tomorrow will be a day to drive to another part of the big island of Hawaii, right now we are on the Kona side of the Island.
The extra is of the hardened lava flow near the Kona airport; you might notice the small area with green vegetation; I have no idea why that small area has a sandy beach.
The second extra is a Feral Goat mother and baby; there is a big problem with an overabundance of wild goats here. The first goats were brought to the island by Captain Cook and they have now become quite destructive.
We left the cloudy skies of Oregon and arrived in the cloudy skies of Kona, Hawaii this afternoon; the big difference is that it is a lot warmer here.
