Francine at the Fence

A morning ride in the country presented me with the problems I am going to have with this new long lens, the Canon 100-400mm. The problem? With no sunlight, I have to bump up the ISO (speed), and I don't like to do that. But, I have to be up near 1/400 to take the picture.

I had a nice picture of a sand-hill crane walking on the railroad tracks, but the light was so bad that it was awful. What to do? What to do?
