WOR JACKIE

Woke up with a sore throat and headache and was temped to stay in but I decided to go to Newcastle as planned.

I went to St James Park - home of Newcastle United - and handed in my application form for a Season Ticket. Possibly some of you may think I have taken leave of my senses after the poor season Newcastle have just had. I live in hope that next season they will do better. Newcastle fans are used to living in hope. The season ticket costs the princely sum of £722 - hope I get my money's worth.

This statue is just outside the ground. It is of John Edward Thompson 'Jackie' Milburn, (11 May 1924 - 9 October 1988), also known to fans as Wor Jackie. ("Wor" in the Geordie dialect means "our") He was a football player for Newcastle United and England and remains United's 2nd highest top goalscorer of all time with a total of 200 goals.

After handing in my form I went to Marks and Spencers. Since losing some weight I am having a problem with BAGGY TROUSERS. So I bought 3 new pairs - 2 sizes smaller than the ones I'm wearing at the moment. This weight loss could prove to be costly.

The weather today was wintry again - heavy rain and freezing cold. Cats didn't want to stay out long. There was an " incident " earlier. A strange cat fight between Tino on one side of the enclosure and the big tabby cat on the other side. The way they were going at it I was glad there was some wire netting between them.

Neil is at work but is going to his girlfriends afterwards. Means I don't have to start cooking him a meal at 10.30pm which I have done every night this week.
