Arenal Volcano In Full View Behind Us

We left La Fortuna today to head to Monteverde Cloud Forest. We took a 30min bus to the edge of the Arenal Lake and a 45min boat across the lake with the Arenal Volcano in full view behind us, before a final 1.45min bus with the most spectacular views to our final destination in time for lunch.

We booked an evening walk in the forest before heading to explore the town. We came across an Orchid garden in the centre of town that ran guided tours, it was so interesting and the guide was so knowledgeable about the orchids that were being protected by being grown in the garden.

Our evening tour was the first time I have been disappointed with anything we have done here, it was a bit chaotic and we didn’t actually spot very much at all and we have been fortunate enough to see amazing nocturnal tree frogs in our hotel frog garden by the river in La Fortuna close up so the one frog through a telescope was a slight anti climax. The highlight was a baby green viper, that was pretty cool and Sushi was in his element hunting for various bugs and insects that other people are not generally interested in.
