Cool and Rainy Day

Hubby felt so rough last night that he had to move to the couch in a semi upright position just to breathe comfortably. I woke up around 4:00 am thinking, “suppose he has COVID?” Stayed awake intentionally so I could find the COVID tests as soon as my sister or BIL (who are still COVID free) woke up. The good news is that hubby’s test came back negative but he has a low grade fever. His cough/sneezing is jarring. He’s spent much of his day in bed or lounging in the Rec room. I went back to bed and slept till 9:00 am. A constant cloudy sky with drizzle all day and temps in the 30°s F when we woke up, added to the melancholy atmosphere. At least hubby isn’t missing out on some great ATV riding weather. We had company from town and served them coffee and cookies. One was the former sheriff and we enjoy his company and insight. As beautiful as this state is, if you ask what folks first think when they hear WV, it’s that it has the highest opioid usage in the US. That may be a per capita statistic but it is still heartbreaking. It is nice having someone who can alert us of any local dangers. At some point, I went out and grabbed my blip. I really love the star effect on these tiny daffodils. They brought a bit of “sunshine” to the afternoon. I spent the rest of my day organizing my blip quotes. The cell signal is so weak here that I can almost never get on the Internet. That’s why I have collected and stored pertinent quotes on my phone but had a hard time finding “the one” in all the clutter. My new system will be so much easier to use. Please forgive me for not looking at your journals much. I will catch up on the way home. We were invited to Henry’s last night so we made summer cold salads to share. There is enough left for dinner so that is a bright spot in our day. Chase thinks Blanche is eating a bit. I really think the antibiotics made her tummy hurt. As I sit here by the window, there are at least 50 male and female cow birds at the feeders/eating seeds on the ground. They help keep bugs off the cows but they sure are a nuisance for us and the song birds. (Whine, Whine). Maybe the sun will return tomorrow… Hope you have a cheerier day folks. Thanks for dropping by. “I have seen the Lady April bringing the daffodils, bringing the springing grass and the soft warm April rain.” —John Masefield, “Beauty”
