Finally Finkins

A trip to the vet for Basil this morning to follow up the diagnosis of a heart murmur that he had in December. Yes, it's confirmed. I opted for the daily medication that will defer the onset of serious symptoms since he is 11 years old. The vet said she thought the tablets were supposed to taste alright so hopefully we won't have the trauma of tablet taking that we have with the worming tablets.

As we were leaving the vets, we encountered three people leading a white and black dog round the car park. Despite having an elderly grey muzzle she looked well and was wearing a smart pink jacket. I noticed that she was lifting one of her back legs and remarked that she had a poorly leg. The older man in the group replied that she had a massive tumour for which nothing could be done. They had brought her to be put down. The lady looked very sad.

Then we went to Finkins for lunch. Reasonably mild for sitting outside and Basil was impatient for his sausage. The staff greeted me and we enjoyed toasted cheese and ham sandwiches with cups of latte.

To conclude, we drove to Coalville Community Hospital where Len retrieved the book I had left behind. He said the staff were pleased to hear that I was walking around on crutches. It was too far from the car park for me to walk to the ward.

My hospital appointment has arrived for surgeon follow up. 1st June. Evidently they are expecting a long recovery period.
