Crossed Bones

Beanpole skeleton,
Intertwined with vine remains,
Like faded ribbons.
But these crossed bones still provide
Food for pirate-minded birds.

Not the best photo I took today, but I just like the crossing poles and the angle of the bird, and the twining bits of old bean vine.

Weather has been grey, wet and dull and I have had my head down working ... hoping to get in the garden at the weekend .... to plant and tidy up... so make the most of those poles little bird!

This is a "tanka" not a haiku .... was going to stop at the faded ribbons line, but then the poem became quite sad, and the symmetry of the poles crossed by the organic shape of the bird made me feel quite happy, so I extended it! Also I thought the bird looked a bit piratey with its black head markings - am I overthinking this? ..... probably!
