Masterclass

Scarlatti, Schumann, Schubert, Debussy, Liszt, Prokofiev, Smetana - all these composers filled my head and heart this afternoon thanks to a lovely lecture recital given by visiting British pianist, Caroline Tyler. Her audience today, all 200 Lise Prep students (our intake year group @ 14/15 yrs old) were attentive and I was delighted to see her again, performing on our Yamaha concert grand piano. Also in the audience were four older students - all conservatoire pianists, from grades 10 and 11 - who after the recital (and a group lunch when they asked Caroline quite a lot of questions about the life of a concert pianist) then enjoyed a 90 minute group masterclass playing Debussy, Chopin, Rachmaninov (pictured) and Beethoven.
