Lunch in Astoria
Cloudy but it didn’t rain. Just a cold wind on the beach with Maple in the morning . By the time the troops were ready for anything it was lunchtime so we decided to go to Astoria Oregon for lunch if H would promise he didn’t NEED to go to the wonderful maritime museum there. Lovely lunch under the big 4 mile bridge across the Columbia River, then a quick trip to the Astoria Column for the views…I do love the 1926 sgraffitto mural of the history of the region . Only the boys walked up. THEN , Fiona’s request for today was bookstores! 2 in Astoria. One book was purchased by her. Then another bookstore( the best one) in Ilwaco on way back ..another book purchased by me. ) AND there was a fabulous yarn shop right next door in this sleepy little fishing town. A small amount purchased . Will blip project later. Fi and Peter are at the video arcade before dinner so a chance to post this now!
Water, boats, seafood, nature, art, books and yarn.. . Could it be any better ?
The last time we were at that column was Oct 2016 ..here is the blip with a bit extra info and a good view in the extra from there. ( nicer than today.)
