Half Spring, half Winter…

this Mountain Hare was dozing in the sun in the mouth of his home on the moor this morning. I was close to him but he didn’t see me! Like me he was enjoying the heat of the sun, which lasted all day. Glorious! The moor was alive with Curlew, Lapwings, Oystercatchers, Grouse and Geese. The Blue Hare is nocturnal, hence his sleepiness. Brown Hares don’t use holes, but Blues do.
