Mahe, Seychelles

Our last day here in the beautiful Seychelles.  Today was a "turnover day" where almost all of the passengers disembarked, leaving only 44 passengers to continue onwards!

The next leg will be four and a half sea days until we reach our next port of call which will be Muscat in Oman.  We feel like we are on our own private yacht!

We took a very interesting tour today of the botanical gardens here in Mahe, followed by a visit to a tea plantation, and some stops along the way back to the ship for some pretty amazing views.

While we were at the botanical gardens, we visited with some more of the wonderful giant tortoises endemic to these islands, marveled at the beauty of the colourful red fadie bird, and learned all about the endemic coco de mer-- the largest seed in the world, which is found only in the Seychelles.

The photo at the bottom of the collage was taken from the deck of our ship as we watched a catch of tuna being unloaded from a fishing vessel moored just in front of us.  They were still wriggling vigourously, and they don't come any fresher than that!
