2023 Tuesday — Gabled Roof

We’re nearing the 1 year anniversary of meeting with the salesperson from the sunroom company; it was his idea that our room would be much nicer with a gabled roof. We both think he was correct.

We had no idea at the time how complicated this would be, but it’s not the gabled roof that was the issue. No! The patio room franchise was on the verge of going “belly-up.”

They have a big beautiful facility, a gorgeous display room, and for the past 10+ years we’ve been passing their place every time we travel to or from Southern California. We never even suspected that the company was on the verge of financial disaster. Well, more about that later.

Within the past two weeks we have made contact with a man who knows how to put these patio rooms together and he knows about and is skilled in all types of construction. And the job he was currently working on, went “on hold” as the homeowner went on two weeks vacation (that’s definitely an answer to our prayers). He looked at the mess that had been constructed here by the inexperienced workers the patio room company had hired and told us how much deconstruction had to happen so the correction could take place. Ugh! Giant UGH! The entire room had to be un-done. No kidding!

The mental anguish here has been overwhelming. However, we are now moving closer and closer to the Finish Line and we have seen from the beginning of the “re-do” the enormous difference in craftsmanship. We knew previously that we had a hooligan and his rag-tag crew working here. We were certain we could see shoddy work, but we are not construction workers, and we had no way to prove what we were thinking or seeing and the owner of the company kept reassuring us that things were fine. Now we do see the difference. We are so very pleased with our new contractor and his crew.

Soon they will close up this interior wall, cover the exterior roof, and finish the inside of the room. We are pleased with what’s happening here.
