Lambton coal Staithes.

Painting from the Lambton drops. This is where coal was transported to the river Wear at Sunderland and dropped into coal ships.
I think Lambton was the colliery owner.
Lord Lambton's Estate is quite near here but unfortunately I don't know the history of the estate.
I thought I might try to identify the exact spot the artist was standing. I need better weather before going for a walk along the river.
