Woodland Collage
From the top left clockwise, there is Ash, Blackthorn, Wild cherry, Wych Elm, Horse chestnut, and Sycamore.
When there was no call from the court this morning we headed to Kiel’s Den at Upper Largo for our walk. It’s a great old wood in a gully with a burn running through the middle.
I tried out the new phone app. that CherryR told me about. It’s called Merlin and records and identifies birdsong. What a joy it was. It seems to be really sensitive and can pick up several songs at once. It identified blue tits, chaffinchs, chiff chaffs, great tits, wrens, blackbirds, robin, skylark, and goldfinch. I’ve just been playing back some of the recordings and they sound beautiful with just the birdsong and the river in the background. A great find, so many thanks to CherryR, who I think got the idea from Ferryoons.
We also saw two grey squirrels.
After our walk it was Leven to stock up on bird food, and check out the veg plants at B&Q.
Many thanks for all the lovely birthday wishes yesterday. You’re all so kind.
