Silloth
Silloth is a small town on the Solway Firth coast. There has always been a settlement here, but Silloth rose to prominence during Victorian times. Most of the streets are cobbled and set out on a grid system. It is also the place where I worked for many years.
Silloth has a port, a flour mill and used to have a railway. The latter is now gone. At one time the train brought tourists to the seaside.
This view of Christ Church and some of the painted buildings was taken yesterday and gives an indication of the weather. I was there with friends from camera club for a social plus photo opportunities. There are good views of Scotland and inland to the Fells. Yesterday the Fells couldn't be seen as dark cloud hid them.
