Mixing It With The Yachtocracy
Today was the start of my brother's Easter Break - he was so happy that he now has four days away from commuting and the trials and tribulations of work.
We could have had a lie in but it was such a beautiful morning we decided to head out for an early morning run before breakfast. There was hardly anybody up and about and no rush hour traffic. We thoroughly enjoyed our run in the relative peace and quiet and it certainly swept away the stress of yesterday's events for me.
To celebrate his freedom my brother said he would treat me to lunch at our local, The Chequers. We went for a walk around the village first to try to get our blips done for the day. My brother managed to capture his but I hadn't seen anything so we just continued on to The Chequers and settled on trying their pies for the first time. We both had the chicken and mushroom version served with seasonal veg, skinny fries and most importantly proper gravy. Delicious!
After our lunch we thought we should walk it off by taking the longer route home via the opposite river bank which is when this rather ostentatious floating edifice swept past at a stately pace. I still had to move fairly quickly to get it in frame, almost tripping over some exposed tree roots as I went. I imagined that maybe it was on oligarch trying to hide is ill gotten gains from the authorities by navigating it down the backwaters of the River Medway.
Apparently this is an F42/5 Sealine motorboat, which when new can cost up to £300K!!. I looked up their website and this is just some of the over the top promotional guff:
"On a Sealine, the sky and the horizon are you're ever-present companions. Impressive window facades allow you to enjoy the airiness of modern glass architecture on the high seas and reveal in unrestricted panoramic views thanks to the balance of lighting design, colour composition and material aesthetics.
A sealine motor yacht is your floating designer suite inside and out, a host of sophisticated extras ensure your every need is met as you take to the water. Sealine - the last word in latest generation elegance."
Like your entire view of the world will be changed by buying a very expensive boat!
