It's expensive owning a dog & scared of a bunny

Today I went to the vets for my annual check-up. I normally go in May, but as we're heading down to Cornwall at the weekend, Ann wanted to make sure I was in tip top condition. I am. Yay!

However, I had two very matted bits of fur beside the base of my tail which Ann has been too scared to cut in case she hurt me, so she asked the vet if she could cut them out. I was a very, very good girl. Ann held me at my head end, the nurse held me at my bottom end, and the vet shaved off all the horrid uncomfortable matted bits. It took about 5 mins and do you know how much it cost to do that?................... £27.91?!

Fortunately well we say fortunately, but there's nothing actually fortunate about it I get two free check ups a year plus all my worming treatment, flea & tick treatments, vaccines etc. It's not actually free because I'm a member of 'Pet Plan' which costs Ann almost £17pm. Yes, she has worked it out and it's definitely cheaper than paying for check-ups, monthly treatments etc individually. Also I don't have any doggie insurance but Ann pays £50 a month into my own little bank account because that's how much she was paying for insurance for 'MollyCollie' at the end of her life and yet it paid out for hardly anything.

Obviously if I have a serious accident/illness then there will not be enough in my bank account to cover it, but Ann is working on the assumption that I'll be healthy & happy for the next 6/7 years and hopefully by the time I reach old age, there's enough in my bank account to pay for all my pills and potions.

Anyway enough ranting about how much it costs to keep a gorgeous little collie pup...................

Guess what type of animal was seeing the vet before me?............. a big black bunny. He was in his carrier box and his owner asked Ann if she could talk to me. She made a huge fuss of me and Ann said, 'Better not tell Trixie there's a bunny in that box. She chases them.'  Apparently the bunny lives with two collies so is used to doggies. The bunny's owner said I could look at the bunny. But do you know what?..................... I was scared?!! Can you believe that? I was scared of a bunny in a box!

First I hid behind Ann's legs, then I hid underneath the chair. And then I decided I was brave enough to confront the bunny in his box. But he just sat and stared at me. So I hid behind Ann's legs again. Honestly what a little wuss I am.

It will be very interesting to see if I still want to go chasing bunnies when Ann takes me to the dunes at Hayle when we're back in Cornwall?
