One red sail

We got up early, switched the washing machine on and got the apartment ready for our eldest son, his wife and our second eldest grandson who will be visiting in 10 days time. It was looking really good by the time we had finished, cleaner than when we arrived seven weeks’ ago but as they only visit for a week, it’s nice to make it comfortable for them. The car thermometer was showing 40 degrees in the sun as we set off but went down to 30 degrees. We then drove to the ferry port and caught the ferry. We thought it was going to be a rough crossing as the waves looked boisterous but it was fine. I wanted to drop off some old clothes in Tenerife in a clothes bin which I had seen before lockdown. It was still there but I had packed it in the bag in case it wasn’t there. We don’t have any clothes recycling facilities on our island and I don’t just like dumping stuff in the bins. It was extremely windy in Tenerife and very hot, we did a very quick walk where I took this shot and then headed to the airport, no time for lunch. Amazingly there were. I queues at check in, no queues in security and we boarded the plane on time. I had been watching the plane’s progress, it did a trip to Mallorca before coming out to Tenerife. We were all ready to leave half an hour before the stated departure time, but then we were told that two passengers hadn’t turned up and they were hunting in the hold for their luggage. They did turn up in the neck of time to loud boos as they boarded and we set off on time. The flight home was only 3 1/2 hours as we had a tail wind and we arrived after the wind and rain had passed through. We were sitting on the wrong side of the plane but I could see a lovely sunset on the other side of the plane which is the side we normally sit. Our taxi driver was waiting for us and we were home in no time. We turned off the lights just before 1am.
