Decision made

The 07:30 ferry to Harris was full but we went for it and were squeezed on as the last car. This then meant a drive up Harris and Lewis before catching the three and a half hour ferry to Ullapool arriving on the mainland over six hours after we should have done. Island life!
It did mean we could visit Carloway Broch again as in the image above and also could enjoy the delights of Stornoway for an hour. They wouldn't have lasted much longer as everywhere seemed to be shut.
Once on the mainland the A9 and the A1 were painless and we eventually arrived at our destination near York gone midnight.
Could have been worse.
