Late Spring

It is May 23rd and this 11,040 alpine lake is still covered in snow and ice.

Williams Lake is a 2 mile, 1000' elevation gain, hike from the parking lot. It sits at the foot of Wheeler Peak, the tallest point in New Mexico...13, 261'.

Four of us hiked to the lake, laden with photo gear. There was some "post holing", and we used Yak Traks for traction.
