Spring Unfurling

It looked as though, apart from a bit of windiness, the weather was likely to be ok this morning, so we went up to Longshaw to check  the nest boxes again. The bud are starting to appear on the trees, there are first signs of bluebells blooming and the Wood Ants were busy. Still no Pied Flycatchers, but plenty of other birds around - lots of Chiffchaffs, and I heard my first Willow Warbler of the year. This Nuthatch was calling very insistently from a branch. I suspect that next time I’m up there, things will be more difficult to spot and the leaves open up.
