The River Churn

We had an early start this morning as mrsfb had a dental check up booked In Cirencester. All OK.

She was meeting friends afterwards so I did a bit of supermarket shopping and then made my way home, alone. We don't normally shop in Waitrose much these days but we needed to get a few meals in as the cupboards were looking pretty bare post Easter. I managed to get some schnitzels! I was lucky to find anything really as half the lights were off (presumably to save electricity) and it was pretty dark in places. I heard a lady complaining about it to one of the cashiers, though I don't think it got much response. Then on to Tescos, where all the lights were full on.

I noticed when we were in Ciren on Sunday how flooded the river looked so I had a walk from the shop and got a few photos. I don't recall seeing it this high before.

Back home I set myself the task of renewing the car insurance. The renewal price had gone up 20% from last year but it looks like I am going to have to stay with the current insurer as all my comparison site and direct enquiries didn't come up with anything better for the cover we have. I picked up a Tesco leaflet offering special rates for Clubcard holders (aren't we all?) and their price was nearly double my renewal quote, with lower benefits and higher excesses too. Oh well.
