Sherbrooke Castle Hotel, Pollokshields, Glasgow

We came here this evening, to take part in a research project. Two hours of fairly intense discussion.

Built in 1896 by Thomson and Sandilands, in Scots Baronial Style, the high tower is a south-side landmark. It was originally a private home, called Rhuadsgeir. During the Second World War the house was used by the Admiralty for training purposes, and was known locally as "the ship that never sailed". After the war, it became a hotel.

I have to record snow and hail in Glasgow today. In fact, the snow gates at the Lecht on the A939 are closed with over one foot of snow ... in May!
